Artist's Bio

I have a degree in science and am a self taught lampworker, lampworking since 1996 and designing jewelry since 1993. My husband Bob , also a lampworker, and I have been selling our beads on ebay as powersellers since 1999. Our ids are : justleonardo and karenleonardobeads. I have been awarded various art awards for my lampwork beads and jewelry designs. I was nominated for the artist of the year in Pennsylvania. I also won business and professional awards. At one point I was recognized as the International Whos’ who of business and professional women. I am currently writing a bead and jewelry book and have written jewelry courses for a correspondence school on home based jewelry business, jewelry design and a special ring project. I enjoy teaching others the skills she has taken years to learn and perfect. I am available for workshops across the country and love to travel and meet new people. My work can be seen in such books as The Art and Soul of Glass Beads, Easy Beaded Jewelry, Organic Beaded Jewelry, authored by Susan Ray, among others.

I could not think of anything else I would rather be doing than making beads. I specialize in dichroic, reduction frits and powders in hollow and disc shapes. These are not my only venue of beads but I beads that are light weight and the discs that are strung showing the detailed sides. I am always experimenting and creating new styles of beads. Next year they may be totally different as long as they sparkle! You can always check back to see what I am doing.

I enjoy spending time with her Husband Bob and 3 teenagers, Brock, Erica and Braden and our great dane Sadie. We like to eat international foods and vacation at the beach. I live in Indiana, PA.
